A Yogi to Be
‘Are you a yogi?’ It is a question i had to answer many times in these past fwy years. I would like to share some of my thoughts on the word “yogi”, to dive little deeper.
How many “yogis” out there know what the true purpose of a yogi is? Constant searching, reading and involvement brings more meaning to that word every single day. There are so many good instructors out there, with great knowledge of body movement, but is this enough to justify a person being a yogi? Are you able to walk and make every little step count? Can you give life or even maintain some of it into this planet? Are you willing to serve people without taking advantage of them? Can you be your true self without being afraid of someone not liking you? Are you grateful for the life that’s been given to you?
All these little things, these few simple acts within our daily life, are enough to make our first step towards the path of yoga! Our daily practice is just a tiny percentage of what yoga entails. So many of us give our undeniable attention to our bodies, forgetting and leaving behind what makes us humans. Often these days I hear “yogis” say, “let’s do something to change this world”, and I wonder, do they expect me to do something, or do they actually want to do something as well? Starting with these simple steps we will grow. I wish someday we could all be yogis.
